Seth Weathers, a MAGA political consultant, launched Ultra Right Beer in 2023, promising a product free of the “woke” agenda that he and his customers believed had infected Bud Light. Now, the beer is largely unavailable, its website is down, and many customers are waiting for refunds.
Ultra Right Beer was born from the outrage over Bud Light’s decision to partner with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney. Conservatives called for a boycott, and Weathers saw an opportunity. He launched Ultra Right Beer, promising a product that would appeal to those who felt alienated by Bud Light’s marketing.
But Ultra Right Beer quickly ran into trouble. The company struggled to meet demand, and customers reported long delays in receiving their orders. In some cases, customers never received their beer at all.
Now, the company’s website is down, and its social media accounts are inactive. Customers who ordered beer are left wondering if they’ll ever get their money back.
“I ordered a case of beer in April and never received it,” says John Smith, a customer from Texas. “I’ve tried to contact the company multiple times, but I haven’t heard back.”
Weathers has not responded to requests for comment. But in a statement posted on social media, he blamed the company’s problems on “supply chain issues” and “unforeseen circumstances.”
The story of Ultra Right Beer is a cautionary tale about the challenges of launching a political brand. It also highlights the risks of relying on outrage and polarization to drive sales.
