How We Tested
Our testing process involved both quantitative and qualitative analysis. We ground coffee beans with each grinder and then used a laser diffraction particle size analyzer to measure the size distribution of the grounds. This gave us an objective measure of how consistently each grinder performed. We also brewed coffee with each grinder and tasted it to evaluate the flavor and aroma.
We focused on three main types of grinders: conical burr, flat burr, and blade. Conical burr grinders are known for their consistency and ability to produce a wide range of grind sizes.
