Shares of Microsoft MSFT have surged 44% this year, as of Friday’s close, and are trading near all-time highs. The stock’s momentum isn’t likely to slow down anytime soon, according to Melius Research analyst Joel Fishbein.

“Microsoft is a core holding for us, and we think it’s a very good way to play AI without the risk of some of the more speculative names,” Fishbein said in a note to clients on Monday. “We think the stock has a lot of room to run.”

Fishbein raised his price target on Microsoft to $450 from $405, implying about 15% upside from current levels. He reiterated his buy rating on the stock.

The analyst pointed to Microsoft’s strong position in cloud computing, as well as its investments in AI technologies like OpenAI, as key drivers of its growth.

“Microsoft is well-positioned to benefit from the growth of cloud computing, and its investments in AI are starting to pay off,” Fishbein wrote. “We think the company is on track to deliver strong earnings growth in the years ahead.”

Microsoft’s recent earnings report showed that its cloud revenue grew 21% year-over-year, and its AI revenue grew 30% year-over-year.

The stock’s rally has been fueled by investor enthusiasm for AI, as well as by Microsoft’s strong financial performance.

“We think Microsoft is a good long-term investment,” Fishbein said. “The company is well-positioned to benefit from the growth of AI and cloud computing, and it has a strong track record of innovation.”
