Salata Dressings initiated the recall of its Jalapeño Avocado Dressing in August over concerns about possible salmonella contamination. The F.D.A. on Thursday classified the recall as Class I, meaning that it poses a serious health risk.
The dressing was sold in 12 states: Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Montana, New Mexico, Nevada, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas and Washington.
As of Thursday, the F.D.A. said that no illnesses had been reported.
People who have the dressing should throw it away, the agency said.
